Didactic strategy for classroom work: Learning by doing – Cooperative learning



Cooperative learning is a methodology applied when the educator wants to set the learner up in a cooperative learning context. The method has its own application rules that range from the modalities of making groups to the methodologies of management and observation of the work. The method promotes the accomplishment of the educational objectives either of a cognitive or behavioural and relational kind. Cooperative learning is based on providing one or more groups with a problem or a case study or a problem of research/Guided discovery or, also, a role decision-making game. The groups have to deal with the problem and solve it.

 Activities to develop the selected didactic methodology.


The students will be engage in the following tasks, in a cooperative learning as they work in groups to reach the educational objective of making a change on the impact of human actions on the environment in their community.

1.    The students will work in groups and complete a worksheet which describes a community, their activities and the impact on the environment. They will use an audiovisual text.


3.    Each group organizes a mind map and represents graphically the information obtain on the topic.

4.    Each group creates a poster to present their environmental problem the class.

5.    Each group summarizes the positive and negative human actions for the environment.
